UK & International Scope Water Hygiene Services

We deliver water hygiene nationwide through employed technicians and vetted partners, from a single site to a national estate. Rather than a different local supplier at each location, you get one planned water hygiene programme, consistent monitoring and one set of records across the portfolio – the same standard of legionella control wherever your buildings are.

Legionella Risk Assessment

A legionella risk assessment is the foundation of compliance: an assessment of your water systems that identifies where legionella could grow and how to control it. It produces an asset register, a system schematic and a risk score, and it underpins your written scheme of control. Under ACOP L8 and HSG274, the duty holder or responsible person must ensure one is in place and kept up to date. We carry these out and review them as your sites change.

Legionella Testing & Monitoring

Where the risk assessment calls for it, we deliver the ongoing controls: water sampling and analysis, temperature monitoring, thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) servicing and tank inspections, plus the remedial actions that follow. Monitoring keeps systems within safe parameters between assessments and gives you the records that prove control is actually happening, not just documented.

Water Tank Cleaning, Chlorination & Water Hygiene

Beyond monitoring, we deliver the hands-on water hygiene tasks that keep systems clean: cold water storage tank inspections and cleans, chlorination and disinfection, and closed-system dosing and treatment. Delivered on a planned schedule, these keep your water systems compliant and safe, and are logged alongside your risk assessment and test records.

    Sectors We Work In

We manage water hygiene across three core sectors. In retail, we keep washrooms and welfare facilities compliant across store estates. In commercial offices and managed estates, we handle landlord and duty-holder compliance. In industrial settings, we cover process water and cooling towers. We also support higher-risk environments such as care homes and healthcare, where the stakes are greatest.

CAFM Reporting for Water Hygiene Services

Risk assessments, test results, temperature logs and certificates all sit on our CAFM platform, stored and audit-ready. You can see your compliance calendar, prove control to auditors or insurers on demand, and spot any site falling behind – one clear view of legionella compliance across the whole estate, without chasing paperwork.

    Water Hygiene Multi-Site Capabilities

Across a portfolio, legionella control only works if it’s consistent. PPVS runs one water hygiene programme across every site, with the same monitoring frequencies, records and reporting, coordinated from a single point of contact. It removes the risk of a forgotten site and gives you a defensible, estate-wide compliance position.

    Water Hygiene Services FAQs

What is a legionella risk assessment?
    >

It’s an assessment of your water systems to identify where legionella bacteria could grow and how to control the risk. It produces an asset register, a schematic and a risk rating, and forms the basis of your written scheme of control under ACOP L8.

Is legionella testing a legal requirement?
    >

The legal duty is to control legionella risk under the Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH and ACOP L8, through a risk assessment and a written scheme of control. Testing and monitoring are required where your risk assessment identifies them, rather than being a blanket requirement for every building.

How often is legionella testing required?
    >

It depends on the system and the risk your assessment identifies – some tasks are monthly, others quarterly or annually. We set the schedule from your risk assessment so monitoring matches the actual risk.

Who is the 'responsible person' for legionella?
    >

The ‘responsible person’, or duty holder, is the person an organisation appoints to manage legionella control – often a facilities or operations manager. We support them with the assessments, monitoring and records they need to meet their duty.

    What is ACOP L8?
    >

ACOP L8 is the HSE’s Approved Code of Practice for controlling legionella bacteria in water systems. It sets out the legal duties and, with the HSG274 technical guidance, how to assess and control the risk.
